Confused in a covert treasure hunt, the seeker struggles with the presence of mind to control destiny. In this bubble gum pop philosophy adventure, the action is only slowed down by the inability of the internet to deliver larger files faster.
Some time before the events here depicted All of the individuals involved in this exchange were, on the surface- very good friends. One night after several months of experimentation with parapsychic event causation (or was it just a coincidence?), the young men were playing poker.
The best measure of a poker games intensity is its synchronization with the background noise, or music. Likewise with individuals. Exemplar of this capacity is the frequency at which radio signals coincide with the unspoken thought of listeners. During a particularly bone-chilling crescendo that night in Boston, Luke bet The Center Switch. A bet met (not without dramatic pause in room and soundtrack) by Doug (called George), wagering his car.
All save The Judge had already folded, now citing powers at play beyond the strength of his own hand- he folds as well. Luke and George over their heads in irony, played the last cards of the game. George won.
"Aaah, hrmm. The Center Switch is mine." he said, holding out an
open hand.
"Maybe", Luke calmly states "I let you win, to justify your claim
to the switch."
"Stop!" George demands "That's a weak premise, conflict over the switch
is founded in our symbolic names being representative of the human
condition !"
"George created Luke, Doug sheds light." Luke says leaning forward.
"That's right."
"Your experience is the only one. Unless you've chosen to project
yourself onto someone or something else- you are the center of every
circumstance and rightfully so, because your understanding is divine."
"That's your own deluded..."
"And when the will has no affect on reality, it's our own fault again?"
The debate is interrupted by Jay, eager for a resolution to the conflict. The switch is not presented that evening. Luke stops playing and leaves George with an IOU for the item.
Some time passes, the group is divided by contradictory opinions. On one occasion an attempt is made to steal the switch and narrowly thwarted. Finally, on conflicting terms- Luke and George agree to a meeting. The night before the showdown, a secret rondezvous takes place. On the street in front of her house, Mona and Luke approach each other.
"Take this" he says, handing her a brown paper bag.
"It's not a good idea." She pleads.
"Whose got a new one? "
"get out of here, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Tomorrow."
The next day George drives to the meeting place with Jay, Mona and the Judge. As The Judge plays with his gun he looks over to Jay- who nods. Mona puts her hand over the gun hidden in her backpack, the one Luke gave her the night before. Luke is already waiting with Peter, when George arrives...
